So over the years I’ve gotten a little superstitious about writing about projects that are “in development” just in case they don’t pan out. But today I’m throwing caution to the wind and writing up a little something on a new piece I’m working on.

It’s about a folk song called “The Old Settler” which was written way back in the 19th century. Over the years, the song survived and thrived as a theme song for Seattle’s most infamous self-promoter, Ivar Haglund. Now, the song will be the theme for a documentary short I’m producing for MOHAI’s upcoming History Is… competition, which asks local filmmakers to edit videos portraying what history means to them.

I don’t have much more to say about it, other than to tease that it’s coming, and to drop this little graphic still of what I’m working on:
