So what do you need for an electronic press kit. Here’s the lowdown:
Press Releases. Short posts on what’s happening with your film. Write one whenever you screen at a film festival, win an award, get picked up for distribution or screen or stream on television or the web.
Film Synopses. A short one that’s just a one paragraph blurb about the film, and a longer one, that’s about a page covering the meat of what the story is about and who made it.
Stills. A range of still photographs that can be used to accompany any articles or posts about the film. Should include pictures of main characters, and headshots of the director.
Filmmaker bios. Biographical materials on key production personnel.
Main Character bios. A list of the main characters and some short blurbs on who they are and what their role is in the film.
Fact Sheet. This is optional, but a short list of interesting facts about the subject or making of the film which can give journalists some ideas about new angles that maybe haven’t been covered before.
This is by no means and exhaustive list of what to include in an electronic press kit, but it’s a good start. By having it easily accessible on your website, it will make it much easier for you to get some kind of media attention for your film.
