I just got an email from one of my old profs at the University of Florida. The Documentary Institute down there has fallen on some rough times this year, as the school faced budget cuts and chose to cut their funding. Luckily, the community has come out to support them full force. And it seems this year, the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival will be throwing a fundraiser for them.
As part of the program, the Doc Institute will be screening a selection of student films as a trailer. They have also decided to feature 2 films from their graduates as features for the event. And they’ve asked to screen Key West Cock Tales as one of them.
This is a giant honor, considering other projects have gone on to win Student Emmys. I’m hoping to head down for the screening and maybe do some filming for Liability U. (A return to college to mark the 3 years since obtaining my Master’s Degree.)
